Magical Mandurah with the Minister

- Location: Mandurah, WA
Discover Mandurah like never before on Magical Mandurah with the Minister — a guided e-bike tour where local history meets theatre, laughter and a touch of political parody. Join former WA Minister for Culture and the Arts, David Templeman, as he trades the Parliament for the pedals, leading guests through a hilarious and heartfelt exploration of his hometown.
This three-hour adventure begins on the Mandurah Foreshore, where riders are fitted with premium e-bikes before setting off along the city’s scenic cycleways. From there, guests journey through Mandurah’s historic heart, learning about its colourful past — from early settlers and shipwrecks off the coast to the tall stories spun by Nanna Sutton, the beloved matriarch of Halls Cottage.
Along the way, David brings Mandurah’s heritage to life through storytelling, costume changes, and a cast of unforgettable characters — including Demis Rissole, a flamboyant alter ego inspired by the late Greek singer Demis Roussos. Every tale is delivered with a wink, a laugh, and a deep affection for the city he calls home.
The tour also includes a visit to one of the Giants of Mandurah, the region’s internationally acclaimed outdoor art installation by Danish sculptor Thomas Dambo. These massive wooden figures, hidden in natural landscapes, continue to be the most-searched attraction on the Visit Mandurah website — and for good reason.
Your experience concludes with a magnificent seafood lunch at Cicerello’s, overlooking Mandurah’s sparkling waterfront. Each ticket also includes a donation to the Mandurah Historical Society, supporting the preservation of local heritage.
With its blend of comedy, culture, and coastal scenery, Magical Mandurah with the Minister is more than a tour — it’s a performance on wheels, guided by one of Mandurah’s most recognisable personalities. Perfect for visitors, locals, and anyone who enjoys a good laugh while discovering the heart of this extraordinary city.
